SAGT's 2018 Teacher Grant Disbursement
At the Dec. 3rd CISD School Board meeting, members of the SAGT Board presented a check to CISD from SAGT in the amount of $16,125 - so exciting!
Especially exciting for us: $6,155 of this total funded a record number of  CISD teachers' attendance at this year's TAGT (Texas Association for GT) GiftED conference in Ft. Worth. This annual conference provides new, creative ideas specific to GT learning. Many school districts across the state have trouble funding teachers to the conference and even have trouble finding teachers who are willing to attend. It was a real gift to our GT students that 23 CISD teachers attended GiftED this year (when we thought last year’s 14 in attendance was excellent representation)! The information presented at GiftED is so helpful and innovative, that five of our teachers asked if they could attend an additional conference day - and we were happy to make that happen! Teachers returned to their GT classrooms charged and refreshed - with many new, creative ideas!
Also this year, SAGT Teacher Grants totaled $9,970. These funds go directly into our GT specific classrooms and serve to enhance, enrich and contribute to creative instruction.
Thank you so much to the SAGT Grant Committee, Alyce Ohser, and Lori Davidson, for their many hours of collecting grant requests, reviewing the requests and disbursing funds. Also, working hard behind the scenes were Cathy Kolto, SAGT 1st Vice President, and of course, Gina Peddy, CISD Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction. You ALL did an amazing job! This contribution to the CISD GT program would not have been possible without the generous dues and donations of SAGT Members. Thank you so much for your financial support. You have made a true difference in the lives of our children.
