The mission of Southlake Association of Gifted and Talented (SAGT) is to promote and encourage advanced academics, specifically the education of gifted and talented (GT) students in the Carroll Independent School District (CISD).

Each year, SAGT provides grants to selected CISD teachers to support innovative and creative instructional approaches and activities that enhance student learning in GT classrooms at all grade levels.  Teachers may begin to apply on Monday, October 22, 2018.

SAGT grant funds may be used for the following:
  • Student enrichment activities and resources
  • Classroom technology needs
  • Teacher training and professional development
  • New instructional approaches or curriculum

  • Quest, GT and Accelerated Math teachers at all grade levels are eligible to apply.
  • Only CISD approved vendors may be included in the project.
  • Incomplete or applications received after the deadline, November 5, 2018 at 5pm,  will not be considered.
  • All technology-related requests must include a completed “Campus iOS Purchase Request Form.” This form must be submitted with your application.

Applicants will be notified by November 21, 2018 and will be invited to attend the SAGT check presentation to CISD Trustees at the December School Board meeting.

The SAGT Grants Committee is pleased to announce we have awarded a record-breaking $17,435 in grants to the 2016-17 CISD GT community! This is the largest grant distribution SAGT has ever made. All teachers who submitted a grant received funding. Please join us in congratulating the following grant recipients who received a total of $12,039.50:

Additionally, SAGT distributed $5,145.57 for the following teachers to receive GT continuing education at the 2016 TAGT Conference in Dallas:  

Natalie Walraven (JES), Renea Mills (OUES), Cindy Featherston (RES), Mitch Christoffer (DIS), Christina Jarvis (DIS), Fran Loewen (DIS), Melissa Bailey (DIS), Amanda Garcia (EIS), Natasha Caillet (EIS), Dale Suther (EIS), Colleen Aldridge (EIS), Valerie Barnes (EIS), Leslie Elkins (CMS), Danielle Pfaff (CMS), Ginny Wenger (DMS), Christin Kelber (DMS), Keeley Lowery (CHS), Julie McCurley (CHS) and Karen Otto (CHS).

This brings the total amount of grants distributed to benefit GT teachers to $17,185. for the 2016-2017 school year. SAGT made a formal check presentation to the CISD School Board on December 5th, 2016. Thank you to all our members for for your dues and donations!
